The internet can be a wonderful place, full of cat memes, selfies, and ASMR videos. If you’re reading this right now (on the internet!), I’m willing to bet that the internet plays a central role in your life.
I’ve been hanging around the internet since dial-up was introduced at my childhood home in the early ’90s. A lot has changed since then, and it’s amazing how much we’ve forgotten about the “good ol’ days.” Phone calls (on a landline, no less) kicked us off.
Things took so long to load that I often had time to grab a snack while waiting for an image-heavy website. Social media wasn’t even a thing yet. Remember chat rooms? A/S/L?
These days, it’s hard to imagine a world without the internet. We have faster internet speeds. Social media helps us keep up with people that have moved away. We have all of the information in the world at our fingertips.
On the flip-side, we also can’t get rid of anything because the internet and screenshots are forever. If the internet goes down, so does our streaming TV services and our maps. Grandma can tag you in that incredibly embarrassing photo.
If you’re an avid internet user, this might be the toughest ‘Would You Rather’ game you’ve ever experienced.
