Live-Action Disney Movies: Which Upcoming Film Looks the Most Exciting?

Since 1994, starting with The Jungle Book, Disney has been adapting many of their animated films to live-action. Since then, they’ve created quite a catalog and enlisted some pretty big names.

There’s the Tim Burton-directed Alice in Wonderland, the second remake of The Jungle Book – helmed by Jon Favreau, and Maleficient starring Angelina Jolie for starters. Of course, we can’t forget about Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in the live adaptation of Beauty and the Beast either. Recently, they brought back Tim Burton to recreate Dumbo as well.

There are many more live-action Disney movies down the pipeline, too. Some are still in the works, but several are slated to come out this year.

Upcoming Live-Action Disney Films

First, we have the Guy Ritchie-directed Aladdin with Will Smith in the titular role coming out on May 24. In July, we have the star-studded adaptation of The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau. October brings us the sequel to Maleficent, again starring Angelina Jolie. And, in November, there’s going to be new Lady and the Tramp with Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux.

We also know there’s going to be a live-action version of Mulan starring Liu Yifei coming out in March of 2020. And slated for a December 2020 release is another 101 Dalmatians inspired remake with Emma Stone as Cruella, though information is scarce.
